Extracurriculars for your virtual education
Greenbush Virtual Academy (GVA) will be providing a wide array of opportunities for students to participate in extra-curricular activities outside of their academic courses. Activities will be age-appropriate and coordinated by GVA staff.
Activities for High School and Middle School students are still being developed at this time but will tentatively include:
- GVA Gaming Club: Gaming Club members will meet once a month to share a passion for video games. All types of games will be played across a wide range of platforms. Some games this club will include, but not limited to, are Minecraft, Rocket League, and Fortnite. Competitive tournaments will be held with a prize for the winner. For those students interested in coding and game design, projects will be offered where students can create their own video game.
- Culinary Arts/Fashion Design Club: The Culinary Arts / Fashion Design Club brings students who are interested in Culinary Arts and Fashion Design together to learn about careers, projects, basic design and cooking principles, and next steps in their pursuit of careers in these areas. There will be one club at the Middle School level and one club at the High School level. Goals and meetings will be similar.
- Music Appreciation Club: A student-driven club for people interested in playing music, talking about music, and learning about music. Activities could include composing your own songs, learning to play guitar, and exposure to discussions in a variety of genres and musical time periods like pop, hip-hop, bluegrass, classical, jazz, and more.
- Student Newspaper: To participate a student does not need to be part of a Journalism course – it will be open to students who are interested in writing, photography, and the process of putting together a collection of works for publication. See what your students are up to by clicking below!
Activities for Elementary students will be ongoing throughout the school year and may include virtual field trips, story hour, art, culinary art, and other activities that are of interest to elementary age students. More information will be available soon.
